Having cancer is tough enough as it is. Having cancer while parenting is downright exhausting. What worked for me was having a “one day at a time” perspective and an “it takes a village” mentality.
For a long time after my initial diagnosis, I was afraid to feel hopeful. But working on my mental health helped me start gathering little sparks to lighten up my world.
To all the friends of a cancer fighter: It can be really scary to have a friend that is suffering. You may not know what to say. But, please don’t walk away.
Your body handles an immense amount of trauma during and after cancer. Yet it persists. And though you may see it differently, you and your body remain the definition of beauty.
